An HTML document defines the colors it's going to use in the BODY tag. These colors are given in Hexadecimal form, or Base 16. WebColor will allow you to choose colors for the different parts of a web page and then write their hexadecimal equivilants into the BODY tag automatcially.
How do I use it?
Click a color chip to select it. Click it again to change its color using the Macintosh color picker. While a color is selected, you can also change its color by choosing from the Color Table menu, located under the Color menu. After you have chosen colors for each color chip, you can click the Generate HTML button to write out an HTML shell into the HTML Output Field. This field can be edited just like a normal text editing field.
Brightness Control
There's an information box located on WebColor's main window and within lies a scroll bar with which you can adjust the brightness of the currently selected color chip.
Preview Window
Choosing "Show Preview" from the File menu opens up a small window which displays some text and a couple of HTML links using the colors you've selected. Clicking on the links reveals how the Active Link color will look. The preview window does not display a background image, however.
Background Image
There's a field that you can use to specify a background image. Just type the name or URL of the image and it will be placed in the BODY tag.
Defaults
Choosing "Save Defaults" from the Options menu will save the current colors to the preferences file. Then, WebColor will use these colors as the defaults every time it starts up.
Drag and Drop
Version 2.2 of WebColor supports Drag and Drop of both text and colors. (Dragging can be turned off in the Preferences.) Drag text in and out of the HTML output field. Make "color clippings" on the desktop to save colors. Drag one color chip over another to copy that color.
Kaleidoscope Savvy
This is a cosmetic change for version 2.2. WebColor's main window now draws using the currently installed Kaleidoscope Color Scheme. If you do not have Kaleidoscope, WebColor defaults to a grey background. (I recommend getting Kaleidoscope. It can be downloaded from http://www.kaleidoscope.net)
